Another Biafra?
08:06Do you ever wonder what would happen if a crises was to happen in your country?
What would you do? How would you react to the situation at hand?
Would you pack up and leave your family behind if you had the opportunity or stay back with them and prepare yourselves for the possible outcomes?
I've always thought about the situation in my country and I've always worried for the future of my country, but lately im a little more concerned with the issues that my country is facing at the moment.
I'm a really big fan of Chimamanda Adichie and recently I decided to re-read "Half of a Yellow Sun"(one of my favorite books from her) and I asked myself what would happen if I was in Olanna or anyone of the characters shoes during the crises that arose in the story and I didn't know how to answer it truthfully especially since you cant lie to yourself. I then asked myself another question what if another war was to happen in Nigeria what would I do or how would I react? Well my rational answer would be to stay of course, what about my other family members who don't have the same opportunity as I have to leave the country? It wouldn't be right to just leave them and let them face whatever the outcome may be alone. Then my irrational answer would be to go back to America where I know I'd be safe. But in all honesty I'm a Nigerian not an American and as a citizen and indigen of Nigeria I think it's only fair to stick by your country's side during the good, the bad and the ugly.
What the country needs aren't a bunch of old almost dying grandfathers who call themselves politicians but a new set of young, fresh -faced people who have the motive of doing whats truly right for this country. The funny thing is that these "young fresh-faced" people we are looking for are among us we just don't know who they are..yet. It could be that girl that you can't stand or that guy you just can't quite get along with..it can even be that "Mary Amaka" that's always over hyping Jesus..it could even be me haha..you just never know these things..
Bottom line is that something is happening in our country and it needs to stop but who will have the courage to stand up and fight?
